He is a single father raising her on his own since his partner, Luna's mother, with no intention of treating her addiction, left for Tucson, AZ with a meth dealer two days after Luna was born. She hasn't been seen since. Bird says he doesn't know Luna's birthday was but he thinks it was at the beginning of the summer.

The Church in Slab City, which has air conditioning, is the main social spot on Sundays. After services led by Pastor Phil, there is a trading festival each week.

Shaman Annie, who claims to be the Shaman healer of Slab City for the past 17 years, stands for a portrait. She says she hopes to turn her camp into an Airbnb.

Larry, who describes himself as a one-man band, plays the guitar outside his home. He has played every Saturday night talent show show since 1992.
